We proudly present our new preset library for the Twisted Electrons TherapSID. This library consists of 100 brand new presets for creating various types of electronic music. Think of ambient, electro, techno, dance, synth wave, dark wave, but the presets are not limited to just these music styles.
The TherapSID is a synthesizer based on SID chips that come from the old Commodore 64 computer from the 1980s. These SID chips have that very characteristic computer music sound that everyone has heard. The SID chip, consisting of 3 oscillators, multimode filter, 3 envelope generators, ring modulators, oscillator sync, etc., was designed by Robert Yannes, one of the founders of Ensoniq. Because the oscillators can be controlled independently of each other, this SID chip is very versatile.
The TherapSID has room for 2 SID chips on board and the sounds are designed in such a way that special use is made of this. The included cheat sheet lists all presets by name, categorized and hints on how to best use the preset. We also have several paraphonic presets that allow you to play the TherapSID polyphonically.

• DISCLAIMER All SID chips are compatible (even the clones) but this preset pack was made with two 6581 chips. Minor sonic differences may accure between the various chip models which is normal.
We do not know but we guess not. As of firmware 2.6 (which is not compatible with the mk1 version) you can select multiple filter types and combinations. This preset library uses this feature alot. When loaded into an MK1 model the sounds would not sound the same.
Yes, the Mk2 and Mk3 only differ on a cosmetic level. The firmware is the same.
Press and hold any of the waveform buttons of voice 1. After a few seconds the display will say PAR which means you are now in paraphonic mode. Please be aware that only a specific number of presets are designed you use this feature. Other sounds will not sound correctly using this feature. To play other (non paraphonic) sounds press and hold any of the waveform buttons of voice 1 untill you see OF in the display. You are now in monophonic mode.
Yes, however there may be sonic differences between the different kind of models. This has to do with the age, filter, noise level, envelop differences and so on. But in general the presets should be sounding similar with all chip models.
Sonic Freaks is in no way affiliated with TherapSID. However, we do like their products.
